With over 40 years of experience in the military, government, private and public sectors, Joe has helped and trained thousands of personnel on the fundamentals of financial management (audit, budget, cost, enterprise risk management, fraud prevention, governance, internal controls, strategic planning, etc.) and proven principles on how to grow a business.
Current Role & Impact
As a small business owner and former officer with two different Big 4 audit and management consulting firms, Mr. Ward's strategies and expertise have helped agencies and companies save millions of dollars and increase profits. At the federal government level, Joe was the first African American selected to lead the National Business Center (NBC) in the history of the Department and the NBC was recognized as one of the top federal shared service centers on his watch. Joe’s bold vision is widely recognized for bringing attention to overdue changes in federal shared services and helping shape the establishment of the Uniformed Shared Services Management Office.

Mr. Ward is an Executive Fellow with the KPMG Government Institute, past treasurer, African American Federal Executive Association, and was a key member of the Executive Leadership Group for Shared Services at the Harvard Kennedy School as a federal executive.
