Dr. Calhoun is in his 26th year as a public school STEM educator and administrator.
Current Role & Impact
Dr. Calhoun provides leadership for 1 of Virginia's 19 Governor's Schools and supports its mission which is to engage students in rigorous academic study, challenge them to acquire knowledge, develop understanding, think reflectively, and take intellectual and creative risks in problem solving. The purpose of the program is to educate students in the related fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics on the campus of George Mason University in order to prepare them to contribute to the global community of the 21st century. This is a vision shared by the faculty and participating school divisions which allows students to encounter a range of opportunities encouraging intellectual and academic excellence.
